Manifesto

Most construction video is documentation.
We make it story — so the builders of Canada own the narrative of what they put in the ground.

Latest · YouTube

Always something on the cutting room floor.

New films drop here the moment they ship to @silentstorybc — auto-refreshed every ten minutes.

Services

Construction cinematography, productized.

Four ways to work with us — two that run with the build, two that mark a moment. Every price below is fixed before we set foot on your site, and none of them is billed by the hour.

01

Aerial Progress Retainer

One flight a month, one 60–90 second cut, plus four vertical versions for LinkedIn and Instagram. Step up to bi-weekly when the project has an audience and you can't afford to miss the pour or the topping-out.

From $1,750 / month · $2,950 bi-weekly
02

Long-Term Time-Lapse

A 4K camera lives on your site from first dig to final inspection. Monthly edits while you build — a finished cut, not raw frames on a server — then one film that compresses two years into ninety seconds.

$3,500 setup + $850 / month
03

Project Completion Film

Two to four minutes, shot like a short film rather than a walkthrough. The asset that sells your next project before it breaks ground.

From $7,500
04

Site Story Day

One day on site, one film. An owner saying the thing you can't say about yourself, a safety brief people actually watch, or a trades film that fills the gap on your crew.

From $4,500

The Process

Four steps. No theatre.

First call to final file. Contracted, scheduled, and cinematic at every step — you always know what's coming and when.

01 · Discover

We learn the build.

One twenty-minute call. What's going up, who needs to see it, when it matters. A fixed quote lands in your inbox inside 48 hours — no hourly billing, no scope creep.

02 · Shoot

On site, precisely.

RPAS Advanced, $5M insured, COI to your project office before we arrive. We work around your trades, never through them. Most aerial visits are done inside 90 minutes.

03 · Craft

We build the story.

Colour, sound, pacing. Every cut has to survive three questions: who's the hero, what's the tension, what's the reveal? A shot that answers none of them doesn't make the film.

04 · Deliver

Ready to ship.

Vertical for social, square for LinkedIn, horizontal for the boardroom. Ten business days, two revision rounds, and a licence that makes the footage yours for good.

About

We came here to film what matters.

Silent Story is a construction cinematography studio on Vancouver Island. We light, frame and cut a job site the way a film crew treats a location — because a build that takes two years and millions of dollars deserves better than a phone clip shot from the cab of a truck.

Drone pilots. Cinematographers. Editors. No weddings, no pets, no generic corporate. Construction, and only construction. That's the whole discipline, and it's why we're faster on your site than a generalist will ever be.

Victoria first, then the Lower Mainland, then the rest of British Columbia — building the cinematic record of what this province is putting in the ground.

Founder's Note

The frame that started everything.

I'm Deloar Hossain — most people know me as Dh Lovelu. Film school, specialized in cinematography. I've been pointing a camera at things that matter since before I knew what else to do with my hands.

Back in 2013, right after graduation, I founded my first company — Rawfilm — and spent the next decade shooting TV commercials, documentaries, brand films, and more than 150 client films across two continents. I learned something on every single one of them: the shot that matters is the one that makes someone feel something.

Then I came to Canada with a camera, a hard drive, and a suspicion: the best stories in this country were being built — literally, in steel and concrete — and nobody was stopping to film them properly.

That's why Silent Story exists. That's why the promise is Film to be felt.

Today all of that craft points at one industry. Cranes, concrete, the trades and the builders rewriting skylines from Victoria to Vancouver. If you're putting it in the ground, we're here to film it the way it deserves to be seen — not documented, told.

What developers say after the first cut.

We don't publish a client's name without written permission. Until we have it, the words stand on their own.

The aerial cut landed the day before our investor meeting. It made the entire pitch. We'd been describing the site for months — Silent Story made them feel it in ninety seconds.

Professional on site, disciplined around our crews, and the edit came back better than we briefed for. We're on a monthly retainer now — it's the easiest marketing decision we've made this year.

FAQ

The questions builders actually ask.

What's the difference between a construction videographer and a construction cinematographer?
A videographer records what happened on site. A cinematographer decides what the audience feels about it — through lens, light, movement, and cut. Same job site, same crane, entirely different film. Silent Story is a construction cinematography studio: we shoot for story first, coverage second. That's why our work gets watched to the end instead of skipped at four seconds.
Are you certified and insured for active construction sites?
Yes. Transport Canada RPAS Advanced Operations certified, with $5M commercial liability coverage. We carry certificates on every shoot and can issue a COI to your project office within 24 hours of booking.
How do you handle site safety and crew disruption?
We attend your site-specific orientation, wear appropriate PPE, coordinate with the superintendent on flight windows, and work around — not through — active trades. Most aerial visits are complete in under 90 minutes on site.
How many revision rounds are included?
Two rounds of revisions on every deliverable, plus a final polish pass. Every package includes a written scope before shoot day, so we're editing to an agreed creative direction — not guessing.
What formats do I get?
Every final deliverable ships in three aspect ratios: vertical (9:16) for Instagram and TikTok, square (1:1) for LinkedIn, and horizontal (16:9) for web, YouTube, and boardroom presentations. Raw files and a branded intro/outro are included on request.
Do you own the footage, or do I?
You do. Every contract transfers a perpetual, unlimited commercial usage licence to your company on final payment. We retain the right to use selected frames in our own portfolio unless you request otherwise in writing.
What does a typical engagement cost?
Aerial progress retainers start at $1,750 a month, or $2,950 bi-weekly. Long-term time-lapse is $3,500 to install and $850 a month with edits included. Project completion films start at $7,500, and a single Site Story Day starts at $4,500. Every quote is fixed within 48 hours — no hourly billing, no surprise invoices. If you'd rather test us on one visit first, First Take is $597 and credits back against your first month.
Is the footage you deliver verified human and AI-free?
Yes. Every Silent Story film is captured by a cinematographer standing on a real job site — no synthetic b-roll, no generated skies. We are rolling out C2PA Capture Provenance signing on every deliverable through 2026, so your viewers can verify the build is real. See /provenance/ for the full practice.
